Senior Software Engineer, OCI Data Analytics Job at Oracle, Nashville, TN

  • Oracle
  • Nashville, TN

Job Description

Salary: $89,200 - 209,500 per year Requirements:

  • We want at least 2 years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • We need strong general programming ability spanning software design, APIs, debugging, testing, and data structures.
  • Python experience is helpful, but broader engineering range matters more than mastery of a single language.
  • We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • We expect familiarity with developer tooling, CI/CD, DevOps practices, and basic networking concepts.
  • We need comfort working across code, infrastructure, and runtime behavior to troubleshoot issues end to end.
  • We value experience or strong interest in systems that support planning, operational decision-making, supply chain visibility, systems integration, or shared technical platforms.
  • We look for practical experience using AI coding tools, code generation, or agentic workflows in an engineering setting.
  • We need sound judgment about when generated code is acceptable and when it should be challenged, rewritten, or discarded.
  • We value evidence of continuous learning, such as side projects, open source contributions, technical writing, hackathons, clubs, research, teaching, internships, or similar sustained initiative.
  • We need strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • We expect the ability to work with partial information while still making disciplined engineering progress.
  • Preferred: experience building internal tools, workflow automation, or developer productivity systems.
  • Preferred: experience with cloud services, service-to-service integrations, and operational telemetry.
  • Preferred: experience writing reliable tests at multiple layers, including unit, integration, and failure-path coverage.
  • Preferred: experience in environments where requirements change quickly and judgment matters as much as speed.
  • Preferred: experience with scheduling, planning, source-of-truth system design, or cross-system workflow integration.
Responsibilities:
  • We design and implement production-quality software using the right tools for each problem.
  • We build APIs, services, automations, internal tools, and developer-facing systems that address concrete business and operational needs.
  • We use modern coding agents and AI-assisted development workflows effectively, while applying skepticism and discipline to generated output.
  • We review AI-generated and human-written code for correctness, maintainability, security, observability, and operational suitability.
  • We identify weak abstractions, missing edge cases, poor test coverage, and fragile system boundaries.
  • We work across application logic, CI/CD, DevOps workflows, service integration, data-connected systems, and networking fundamentals.
  • We understand how software behaves in real environments, not just in isolated local demos.
  • We take loosely defined problems and turn them into bounded, reviewable engineering steps.
  • We ask strong questions, identify the real source of truth, and avoid cargo-cult implementations.
  • We ramp quickly on new tools, domains, and codebases.
  • We collaborate with peers, product partners, and adjacent technical teams.
  • We communicate tradeoffs, risks, and progress clearly in writing and conversation.
